ADB Scholarships at the University of Auckland
The ADB Scholarships are part of the Asian Development Bank – Japan Scholarship Program (ADB – JSP). Which aims to provide an opportunity for well-qualified citizens of ADB’s developing member countries. To pursue postgraduate studies in economics, management, science and technology, and other development. Related fields at participating academic institutions in the Asia-Pacific region.
The University of Auckland is one of the participating institutions. Offers the following fields of study for the ADB Scholarship:
- Master of Public Health
- Master of Science (Environmental Science)
- Master of Arts (Development Studies)
- Master of International Business
- Masters programs in Engineering
Note:
The scholarship is incredibly generous and will cover all expenses. Such as full tuition fees, return airfare, basic cost of living, health and medical insurance, and a special grant for thesis preparation.
The Eligibility Criteria for the ADB Scholarships are as follows:
- You must be a national of an ADB borrowing member. For a list of current developing member countries visit [ADB – Japan Scholarship Programme].
- You must have a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with a superior academic record.
- You must have at least two years of full-time professional work experience (acquired after a university degree) at the time of application.
- You must be proficient in oral and written English communication skills to be able to pursue studies.
- You must be under 35 years old at the time of application. In exceptional cases, for programs that are appropriate for senior officials and managers, the age limit is 45 years old.
- You must agree to return to your home country after completing the program.
The application process for the ADB Scholarships consists of two steps:
- You must first apply for admission online to the University of Auckland.
- After you receive an offer of admission from the University. You can apply online for the scholarship through the [ADB-JSP Information System].
- The application deadline for studies beginning in 2023 is July 19, 2022.
What is the Selection Process for ADB Scholarships?
The selection process for ADB Scholarships is as follows:
- You must first apply for admission online to the University of Auckland and indicate that you would like to be considered for the ADB–JSP Scholarship.
- After you receive an offer of admission from the University, you can apply online for the scholarship through the [ADB-JSP Information System].
- The University will screen and rank the applicants, based on its own selection criteria, keeping in view the eligibility requirements and selection criteria of the ADB.
- The University will then submit its ranked list of applicants to ADB, along with a description of the score/grading system which is the basis for the ranking.
Extra Selection Process…
- ADB will review the submission from the University and recommend awardees based on the selection criteria of ADB to the Executive Director of Japan for formal approval.
- Upon approval by the Executive Director of Japan, ADB will advise academic institutions on the successful candidates.
- The academic institution will inform all applicants of the outcome of the selection process and begin to make arrangements for the awardees to take up their scholarships.
- The academic institutions will arrange for the signing of the acceptance of the scholarship award by the awardee wherein the scholars agree that after completion of their studies, they will return to their home country.
