Who is Eligible for the Golden State Teach Grant? According to the web search results, the eligibility criteria for the Golden State Teacher Grant are:

  • You must be currently enrolled in a professional preparation program. Approved by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). And working towards earning your preliminary teaching or pupil personnel services credential.
  • Complete your program and obtain your credentials. Within 6 years from the date, your initial GSTG payments are mailed to your institution.
  • You must commit to work at either a priority school. Or a California preschool program for 4 years within 8 years of completing your program.
  • Apply for the GSTG program through the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) website. The application deadline for the 2023-24 academic year is April 1, 2024. Or until all funds have been awarded. Whichever occurs first.

What is the amount of the Golden State Teacher Grant?

The amount of the Golden State Teacher Grant is up to $20,000 for students who meet the eligibility criteria and agree to the service requirement. The grant is disbursed in two equal payments of $10,000. Each, one in the fall term and one in the spring term.

The grant is non-renewable. However, students can apply for it each year they are enrolled in an approved program. The grant does not need to be repaid. If the service obligation is fulfilled, otherwise. A partial or full repayment may be required.

As defined by the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC). You can find the lists of priority schools and preschool programs for each academic year on the CSAC website. If your school is on both lists, then it is eligible for GSTG.
